My Georgia Travelogue :) (Part 3)

Since early this year, I was thinking of travelling solo, atleast once in my life. I will be turning 40 this year, so I wanted to do it and push myself out of my comfort zone by travelling without a family member or a friend with me. I couldn’t decide which would be the perfect city for this pursuit, a few cities on my list were:

(i) Seoul (I travelled to Seoul once, in 2011, has become an instant favorite since then, so I know I need to go back, as soon as possible), (ii) Tokyo (I have been to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara – so my next target city is Tokyo), (iii) Singapore (I had a 2 day trip to Singapore in 2010, since it was so short of a visit, I wanted to go back to explore more and create better memories), (iv) Taipei (I haven’t been to Taipei but I was told that it would be ideal for a solo trip and “milk tea hopping” :)), (v) Hong Kong (I haven’t been to Hong Kong, so I also wanted to check it out atleast once in my lifetime).

As you can see, my list only included nearby Asian countries from the Philippines because of budget reasons. I have also considered travelling within the country, either to visit El Nido or Siargao for the first time, or to go back to Boracay. I have travelled to Europe for 2 consecutive years so I have to start saving up again and keep myself from going back to Europe so soon! 😛 But if budget is not an issue, my ideal destination for this solo trip or any other trip is Europe, always Europe. 🙂

My plan is to travel solo either before I turn 40 or shortly after my birthday. Little did I know that God has other plans, much better than my plan, as always, as usual. 🙂

The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.

Proverbs 16:9

In late April, my boss asked me to join him to his business trip to Tbilisi, Georgia. You may check out the amazing back story from this post. 🙂

So it happened, my first ever business trip, God’s answer to my prayer, was in Georgia – Georgia is a small country in the Southern Caucasus, in between the two of my favorite continents, Europe and Asia — “Eurasia.” Such a sweet, unimaginable treat from Above! How amazing is that? 😉 Just how awesome and great our God is!! 🙂

He has answered my prayer to experience going on mission atleast once in my ADB lifetime, He also answered my prayer to experience travelling solo. Oh well, not exactly solo, because I travelled with my boss, but since he is not a family member or a close friend, (but definitely a very dear boss not only to me but to many of us, a wonderful family man, a beautiful person), I considered this as my first ever solo travel experience, which makes it very special. I experienced flying on business class for the very first time, I stayed for almost a week in a very beautiful hotel, I loved my room soooo much, the view was perfect, the food was so delish, the service was great, all the meetings and arrangements went well, so it was a perfect experience for me. All praises and thanksgiving to our great God!!

Being on a solo trip, I barely had photos of me, so what I had were mostly random “mirror selfies” and “shoefies” or what I call as “I was here” photos. 🙂

But let me share with you some photos of my room first.

Here are my “mirror selfies” just to document my OOTDs 😛

While the Welcome Cocktails was ongoing on 29 May, I was able to explore a nearby “boutique”. It is basically walking distance from the cocktails venue.

This “unique” boutique or concept store is called “Chaos.” It has a cafe/bar inside but no one was there, if someone was manning it, I would have probably bought a cup of coffee there and had my own little fika. 🙂 Next to the cafe/bar, there was a retail shop, there were some interesting pieces of clothing, shoes and accessories.

One of my fave things to do while travelling is checking out quaint, beautiful, interesting cafes and shops. So it was such a sweet treat to find something unexpected just a few steps from where we’re having the welcome cocktails. 🙂

Hope you enjoyed this mini-travelogue of my first ever business trip/solo travel experience. Definitely, one for the books! 😀 I’ll have one more travelogue post to wrap up and that will be it. Please stay tuned! 😉

There’s always a first time – and almost always – it will occupy a very special place in our hearts 🥰

My Georgia travelogue :) (Part 1)

Dear friends, obviously I can’t get enough of my Georgia experience. 🙂 I am sharing here some photos which I took while walking around the city from Rooms Hotel, where I stayed for almost a week.

Stamba Hotel is walking distance from Rooms Hotel. I have come to love Stamba Hotel because of the lovely cafe and bookstore inside. Stamba Hotel is used to be a publishing house that’s why you’ll find a great collection of books inside. 🙂

That’s all for now, I’ll share more photos in the coming days. 🙂 Have a lovely weekend, friends. 😉

{Another} one for the books

I had the most wonderful time last week in a place I have never imagined to see and experience in my lifetime, to say the least.

This photo was taken the morning after our Tbilisi event has concluded. I’m so grateful that everything went well, every single experience was new to me, and there’s so much joy in meeting and spending time with a bunch of brilliant, beautiful and kindhearted individuals while discovering an equally wonderful new place where every meal is a feast, and enjoying a couple of privileges for the first time.

My work is one of God’s best blessings in my life and in my family. From it, wonderful and unimaginable blessings flow, both tangible and intangible. In the recent years, I prayed to God to let me experience to go on mission (business trip) atleast once in my ADB lifetime. Though I know it’s kind of impossible for my current position, but still I love asking God for impossible things because I know He’s a waymaker and nothing is impossible with and for Him.

Based on my friends’/colleagues’ experiences, going on mission is not something that you would wish to do every so often because it requires too much work before, during and after. But still I prayed to experience it atleast once. And it happened, I was in awe, and my ❣ is overflowing with so much gratitude for how the Lord orchestrated everything behind the scenes. You are an amazing God.

I had no expectations whatsoever, I know it’s work, so I just prayed for 2 things: everyone’s safety (all 19 general counsels, plus Nino (the very lovely, kind, helpful, young Georgian lawyer in photo below) and I were coming from different continents) and for the success of the event. But as always, God has surprised us with sooo much more (beauty, favor, kindness, joy, laughter, productivity, food, wine, etc).

To actually witness and experience what we’ve been preparing for since last year is one of the sweetest rewards, ever. Thank you and praise you, Jesus!

🙌

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

“me time” essentials

💁The ABCs of my “me time” essentials include:

Good:

  • Ambiance 🌿🌻
  • Book 📖
  • Coffee ☕

On this particular day, I managed to squeeze in some “me time.” I actually wanted to make it a regular part of my schedule, maybe once a month, one Saturday or one Sunday when I will spend it somewhere, just reading, chilling, writing my thoughts, drafting some blog posts, having coffee in a cozy place. On some days, I can also watch a movie after I’m done with my reading and writing. I should do it, I think it will be a good investment for one’s wellness to have some me time once in awhile. 😉

Last Sunday, I brought this book with me, I’ve read it a few weeks ago, and I wanted to browse it again and be reminded of the beauty and versatility of wearing white shirts. I consider it to be a classic and classy wardrobe staple.

I used to not like white shirts. I thought it didn’t look good on my complexion. But it has changed in the recent years, I now love white shirts. It’s either I’ve become less conscious of how things look on me or comfort has become a priority as I mature — must be both reasons. 😉

This is another change in me which I lovingly embrace, wearing a basic white tee with white or denim pants is my fave outfit now, and I am certain it will be that way for a really long time, or maybe until I get old and grey. 😛

Take heart…

With all that’s happening around us, very sad and unfortunate, it’s a timely reminder that in this world, no one and nothing can truly make us happy and feel complete.

But it is such a comfort that our Father God can and will – yesterday, today and forevermore.♥️IMG_5639

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.””

knowing oneself

Lately there are lots of templates on Instagram where you will answer questions about yourself, it’s like an online version of the good old slambook! 🙂

I first saw it from my dear friend Gillian’s IG stories so I downloaded some of the templates from TheSundayChapter IG and answered them. Sharing some here:

Having been able to answer these templates quickly and enjoyably made me happy and realized that I know myself much better now compared when I was much younger. I guess that’s just how life works, as you go through life, as you experience lots of things, both good and not-so-good, you get a better understanding of who you are, what you prefer and why you prefer this one thing over the other, why you do what you do and you are happy about it (no need to explain yourself to anyone), you know your negotiables and non-negotiables which is really liberating. You don’t depend your choices and decisions on someone else because you know what works well for you and what’s not, and you are very cool with it (talking about acceptance :)).

Knowing oneself is a lifetime process, so we better enjoy and love as we discover new things about us day by day. As we age, we change our preferences, though there are things that we will hold dear until the end, we improve (hopefully), we learn to let go of things quite easily because we now know what matters most, and we know that it’s never about material things but about our God (our life with Him here and thereafter), our life’s purpose, and every single person we are blessed to have around us. These people help shape who we are, and vice versa, so let’s strive to have positive influences towards each other, let’s walk together towards goodness and righteousness, all for God’s glory.

Discovering oneself will not be always a walk in the park, sometimes you will have doubts, sometimes you will be judged and you might get off track and feel sad about it but you have to be reminded who you really are, in Christ. Your worth is dependent in Christ alone, He knows who you really are and He loves you just the same, unconditionally for all eternity.

So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them. – Genesis 1:27

So far, so good…

Hello everyone! How are you??

Hope you are all doing great!!

We’re on the 63rd day of 2018, 2 months passed by so quickly, right?

My first two months were great! Thank and praise God for all that He has done and for all the blessings He has poured upon my family and all my loved ones and friends.

The biggest blessing/answered prayer so far is my little sister’s pregnancy. 🙂 Our family is soooo happy and grateful for this blessing, such a great way to start the year!! She’s on her 3rd month and we are so looking forward to the new addition to our growing family.

We are also counting the days to our first out of the country trip for the year, it will be my first time to travel with my sister and brother-in-law to Bangkok. It’s my sister’s first out of the country trip so we are all very excited. 🙂

With regards to my #Goals for 2018, I think I am doing okay, I have 10 more months to fulfill most of it. 🙂

Read and study the Old Testament. – I’m on Genesis 16. I am slow but it is okay. Reading and studying the Word of God is not a contest, it’s about consistency, commitment, and building a personal relationship with the Author. 🙂

Finish one-to-one discipleship with muy bella, Mel. Then participate at the Victory weekend and be water-baptized as a Christian. – I hope to be water-baptized this year, I am not rushing this, I will happily and peacefully follow God’s timeline.

Join VictoryFort’s feeding program regularly. – I will join VictoryFort’s activities after my baptism. 🙂

Buy an oven and learn how to bake cookies, cupcakes and cakes. – My target for this is next quarter. I hope to buy an oven by April and start baking thereafter. 🙂

Save up Pxxx, xxx by end of the year. – I think this is attainable. 🙂

Read atleast one book per month. – I’ve finished reading these 3 books but I started reading them in late 2017.

IMG_2169
I hope to finish these 2 by this month, March.

I bought 4 new books at the Big Bad Wolf Book Fair, here they are:

IMG_1951
I hope to read all these books this year, in addition to the original pile below…

IMG_0870

Learn French using the Duolingo app. – This one I am not consistent. I should start again very soon!!

For the first two months of the year, I had a couple of disappointments which caused me momentary heartbreak but it’s all okay now. I think I was able to manage my emotion well, and hold my peace thus no relationship was compromised. I have forgiven and learned to let it go. I know it is never right to judge anyone, but because of what happened, I had a better understanding and appreciation of why God has commanded us not to judge our brethren.

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.” – Matthew 7:1-2

I have been judged, and it hurt so much. People, even family or friends, will not always understand why we do what we do, so it is best to not judge. Each has his/her own reasons for doing things, in most cases, only God is our witness and He’s the only one who understands, accepts, forgives and loves us, no matter what.

Anyway, I am so grateful that God is always ready to listen to us, to hear our prayers, our cries, and He is with us to comfort, to give us peace and the assurance that everything will be okay because He is our Father, He is in control and He has the best plans for each of us.

Anyway, on a lighter note, I am very happy with my increasing commitment to working out/exercise. When I say “workout/exercise,” it means joining Thursday Bootcamp, planking and abs workout at home (checkout JessicaSmithtv), playing squash and doing treadmill at the company gym. I’ve recently discovered what will entertain me while I run, that is watching YouTube videos, I am specifically hooked with Erwan Heusaff’s videos, because it’s 99% travel and food! 🙂

On weekends, I try to jog/walk with my momsy, and then we would have coffee  (and French toast and baked sweet potato, oooopppssss!!!) afterwards if the time permits it. I think I am officially a coffee princess, in other words – coffee addict, which is not actually bad, for as long as I am not drinking too much. 🙂

IMG_2172
I super love our mom-daughter bonding on weekends thru jogging/walking and drinking/eating. 😛

We are only done with the first two months of the year, but I have been blessed with so much already. So many favors and blessings from God through my loving family, well-meaning friends and colleagues at work, good health and strength, travels to look forward to, a happy, healthy, godly baby for our family in a few months.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. – Romans 12:2

The future is bright, it is so promising and filled with God-ordained circumstances. I am very hopeful and expectant of all things good, lovely and beautiful because my hope rests in the Lord.

We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22 May your unfailing love be with us, Lord
even as we put our hope in you. – Psalms 33:20-22
