My foretaste of sweet November

I wouldn’t normally share something too personal here or even in my Instagram account. I guess I’m that kind of person. Not really secretive, but just not too open to many people. I have friends who know very personal things about me but they’re just a handful.

For some happy but strange reasons, I feel like sharing something that recently happened to me through my space here. I initially thought of posting it on Instagram but hesitated at the last minute.

My friends know that I have lots of Korean actor crushes, just watching Korean series makes me happy. 😍 So for a long time already, the “men in my life” are all Korean actors. Unfortunately, no men of the same nationality have tickled my fancy for a couple of years now. I’ve fallen for the wrong person (yet again) a couple of years back, it was tough for me because I really liked him but I had to do what’s right and tried my best to forget about him. I did succeed not because I’m strong enough, but because God is, and God comforted me all those times that I was hurting so badly until I finally learned let go and let God to take care of my heart. Now I am much better than okay and I have learned a lot from that experience. ☺️ Again, because of God’s unconditional great love, and understanding and support from friends who didn’t judge but loved me just the same.

Just recently, in my quiet time, God’s been speaking to me, on point, and I’m really glad and grateful each time this happens, because sometimes God can be quiet, but in those quiet moments, we just need to trust that He’s working behind the scenes (because He does), and when all things are ready, the dream, the wish, the answered prayer will present itself right in front of you and you will have no other more fitting response than to praise God and cry out of uncontainable joy and gratitude to HIM for blessing you with something much more than you’ve asked for or even imagined.

unknown

On a rather ordinary work day, lately when I say ordinary, it means busy, I’ve met someone who have warmed my heart in an instant, it was very unexpected, such a sweet encounter.

Liking someone and seeing him as a man rarely happens to me. At my age, I liked very few, whether I admit it or not, I guess I am picky. When I see someone new, it’s either I like him or I don’t. But of course, I can be friends with him whether I see him as a man or just a friend.

I know myself when it comes to “liking someone” on the first meeting, it all begins with all things tangible: the height, the “presence,” his voice, the way he speaks, the way he carries himself and relates to people; and then to something intangible: that is, the way he makes me feel, unknowingly, naturally.

I don’t know if I will get to see him after that encounter, so I just enjoyed the short time we were together, I think a good one hour or so… 🙂

As of this writing, I couldn’t actually remember how exactly he looks like. I just know that I would like to know him more, given the chance. What I remember and would like to cherish for as long as I can is the way he made me feel. I feel happy just realizing that my heart is still capable of appreciating a new person and knowing that the possibility of meeting My Boaz is just right around the corner…

In my heart I am comforted to know that the Lord is preparing His best for me. And I am willing to wait for God’s love story to unfold slowly, beautifully, sweetly because He is the one and only author of my life. 😍

Jesus speaks, always…

WORSHIP ME in the beauty of holiness. All true beauty reflects some of who I AM. I am working My ways in you: the divine Artist creating loveliness within your being. My main work is to clear out debris and clutter, making room for My Spirit to take full possession. Collaborate with Me in this effort by being willing to let go of anything I choose to take away. I know what you need, and I have promised to provide all of that—abundantly!

Your sense of security must not rest in your possessions or in things going your way. I am training you to depend on Me alone, finding fulfillment in My Presence. This entails being satisfied with much or with little, accepting either as My will for the moment. Instead of grasping and controlling, you are learning to release and receive. Cultivate this receptive stance by trusting Me in every situation.

Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
—Psalm 29:2 nkjv

One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
—Psalm 27:4

But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.
—Psalm 52:8

The Lord is our comfort. He is our assurance.

Thank you, Lord. You are the God of my life, have your way in me.

Just the right amount is best…

Just the right amount is best…

This is the translation of a phrase / Swedish proverb “lagom är bäst” which I recently came across through this article Forget Hygge: 2017 Will Be All About Lagom.

hygge danish
Hygge is Danish, while Lagom is Swedish.

“Lagom” – very seldom, that I fell for a word, and this is one of the very rare occasions that I instantly got curious about a foreign word — it’s love at first encounter. 🙂

The Lexin Swedish-English dictionary defines lagom as “enough, sufficient, adequate, just right“. Lagom is also widely translated as “in moderation“, “in balance”, “perfect-simple”, and “suitable” (in matter of amounts). – Wiktionary

Lagom — the Swedish concept of not too much, not too little, just right — just the kind of lifestyle that I strive to practise day-in day-out in all aspects. I believe it’s one of the keys to enjoy a peaceful and balanced life, which we all need/want/dream of. When one learns how to be grateful for what is enough, let go of everything that’s too much and weighing us down, when the focus is enjoying what we have at the present, and making the most of what is working and serving its purpose at the moment, that’s truly liberating and vital to achieving one’s sense of joy and wellness.

With lagom är bäst in mind and as a practical application, I made a conscious effort to bring just the right amount of everything for my upcoming travel to Busan which is just 5 days away. I am actually SO excited about this trip, this is the shortest out of the country trip that I will get to experience so far, I even made a travel challenge for myself, so this Swedish concept is not only helping me succeed on the challenge but also gives me a better appreciation of the travel experience itself because my focus is on the new experiences that this new city will offer, the fun memories, lots of it, that I will once again share with my lovely friends, Eia and Gillian. 🙂 🙂

So  here’s what I packed for next weekend’s trip:

On the day of the trip, I will pack my clothes, the planned OOTDs might change depending on the temperature. Don’t worry, I know already what to bring, whether the weather gets too cold or just cool enough, I just don’t want my clothes to crumple so I pack them on the day of travel. 😉

Someday, I hope to visit Denmark and Sweden to have a first hand experience of Hygge and Lagom. 🙂

the Woman that I aspire to BEcome

I’m officially 38 as of this writing. I had celebrations more than I had wished for, which makes me feel so grateful, grateful beyond words, to God and all the lovely, generous, wonderful loved ones in my life. He gives lavishes HIS children with HIS best, and I couldn’t be happier with how things are right now. Well, my life has not become perfect, it will never be, here on earth. I guess I just become more dependent on the Lord and I learned to surrender and entrust everything to HIM because He has the best plans (Jeremiah 29:11) for my life and I definitely want that more than anything else.

And I actually feel it, exciting and wonderful things from Above are up ahead. 🙂

As I journey with the Lord, as I wait for His plans to unfold before my eyes, I am determined to know Him more deeply in a personal way through His word, following His guidance, living in His righteousness by His grace and mercy. I know I couldn’t do this on my own, I need God’s grace day by day so I can become the woman that He created me to be.

So how will I be able to know as to what kind of woman I should aspire for? In Proverbs 31:10-31, known as “An Alphabet of Womanly Excellence,” I found the kind of woman that I want to become. For me, it’s the best guide, every aspect of womanhood is there, of course we are not expected to become exactly like it, it’s the ideal woman, but to aspire for it is a good start. In my current state, I want to focus on a few verses (Proverbs 31:25-26, 30). I pray for the Lord to help me become this kind of woman (I’m so far from it) and all that He wants me to be. I memorized these verses and I recite them often so I get reminded of it.

Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. – Proverbs 31:25-26

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. – Proverbs 31:30

In this world, there are so many #pegs, so many #goals, but they are mostly worldly. It’s hard to cope up in this fast-paced world, where everyone is exposed to luxury, beauty, materialism, convenience, where everyone dreams for what the world dictates as “best.” Life is hard as it is, it will be harder when you don’t know the Lord and who He truly is in our lives. We need a guide, and that guide, only comes from the Lord through His word.

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path. – Psalm 119:105

I am very grateful because for every single question we have, the bible has the answer for it, for every single worry that we have, the bible has an antidote for it. The bible is what I call “the manual for life.”

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,… 2 Timothy 3:16

When things get so confusing, the word of the Lord will make it crystal clear for us. When womanhood has become so complicated, so high maintenance, I’ll just go back to these verses, they will keep me grounded and always assure me that I am right on track. Womanhood can be simple when we get to learn to see our worth through God’s unconditional, unfathomable love for us. God loves us, His children, and that’s the most important thing. We are precious in His sight, period. 🙂

Ahh, I almost forgot, remember, we are only passing through this world, eternity is soooo much better, so don’t fret, okay? 😉 For a glimpse of what’s to come, read Revelation 21.
